FAQ

Ok FAQ time..

How do I buy? You can buy any painting that isn't marked as sold by contacting me personally at kendalle.weinberg@gmail.com or visiting the site http://dailypaintworks.com/Artists/kendalle-alquwaie-3313

What is your favorite palette: I use a rubber made container lid for my palette. I have used glass, paper plates, wood, plastic speciality palettes, and palettes with wells. Glass is nice but heavy, and can break and cut you, paper plates make too much waste, and i don't like the wells. My favorite is the rubber made take along lid, really the take along container is weird because it is a 9x13 so you would think it would be for baked goods, but its plastic so you can't bake in it. But it is perfect for paint. I put a damp paper towel on my pallet, put the bottom over it, and it is a keep wet palette! And when acrylic paint dries on it you can just peal it off. Oh, and wood... it is impossible to clean acrylics off.... feel like a master for a moment, and then scrub and it never comes clean.

What brand of acrylics do you use: I use Liquitex Heavy Body, and Masters Touch. Liquitex is more expensive, and Masters touch claims it is artist quality at student prices. They use the same pigments in some of the paints and I am still trying to decide if Master's touch is less quality. I assume it has less pigment in it. I try to get the actual pigments and not the hues and i try to get pures instead of mixes.

What is your palette colors: I mix it up a lot. My palette almost always has a mix of Titanium white, mars black, cad red, crimson of some sort, ultramarine or winsor blue, cad yellow light, azo yellow med, yellow ocher, raw umber, burnt umber, raw sienna.
my fun colors that i use some are violet, and cobalt.

What is your process: I work from a mix of pictures and i sketch slightly with either graphite or paint, which normally gets painted over before it is useful, i normally have an image set in my mind of what it will look like first, so i just kind of go from there.

Music: I listen to pandora when i paint, my station is Bob Marley, Edward Sharpe, Dispatch, Goyte, Fun., Jeffrey Lewis. I tend to sing along and dance around and play with the dog and basically paint distracted. Works for me.

What king of dog is Messi: Messi is a schnauzer cocker spaniel mix. I think. He was supposed to be schnauzer and yorkie when i got him, but he grew to be twice the size that he should be, and does not have a yorkie look to him at all... but he looks like a cocker spaniel so i think that is the true dad, his mother was a schnauzer though. And Yes, he is adorable.
