Day 103

well it is about time i catch everyone up to speed on what i have been working on. I have been working on a alice in wonderland painting. I had previously painted the floating head in a former painting that didn't work, i painted over everything but the head black and went from there. It has turned into an alice in wonderland inspired painting... but anyway... here is where i am at now. And then i will post all the previous steps.

So, long....

It has been forever since i posted, I have been working on my alice inspired painting lately and with x-mas and family and personal issues lately i have been neglecting my paintings. I will start doing a painting a day yet again. I have a new commission for 30 more foodie paintings so more of those to come. Yay! I enjoy food paintings. If anyone has a challenge for me that they would like to see painted feel free to post on here and i will look into it. I am always up for more ideas.

on that note i should probably start painting. I am pet sitting for a friend right now so i now have a bird, a cat, and a dog living in my apartment and it is interesting. my dog is doing fairly well, my bird is stupid and flies to the cat which is all too interested in him so i have to keep a close eye on them.

Day 101

"Snow Lane" 4x6" acrylic on paper $40

Festive for december I suppose. Didn't get as much contrast as i wanted. I am working on getting more contrast however. I really need to focus on darkening my darks. Really difficult for me. I lay down some really dark spots and freak out and lighten them. Its an impulse. I can't stop.... yet. Working on it though. Promise. Would have worked on this one longer but i had to get going and I don't allow myself to go back really. I may paint this same scene again and again until i finally get those darks where i want them, I always feel i am ruining it by adding strong darks, when those are what catch my eye. I feel if i have one i allow myself to do what i normally do, and can do a new one where i really make myself look at this one and add darks perhaps... I can do it.

Day 100

Unfinished

Sorry i haven't posted in a few days, i have been dealing with some things, and have been working on this larger painting. I started this oh.... 4 or so years ago and its been sitting since, i did not like it. So i painted over everything except the floating head. I have since added the cat, and am working on an Alice in wonderland surrealist sort of painting. At this point i am unsure of where i will go next with it. I am torn between wanting to add a lot of things, and keeping it very sparse. I added the shrew with the umbrella on a whim just to see how i liked it and kind of like the sparseness of him. He may or may not stay in the finished painting. Since i will probably be working on this, and may or may not do a few smaller paintings in the mean time i will post the process of this one.

Day Ninety-nine

"Ahhh!" 5x7" Acrylic on Paper $30

Heh, this is a form study for a larger painting. Not sure how i feel about him orange. Although it will work with the other painting. Fun.

Day Ninety-eight

"Snow tree" 5x7" acrylic on paper

On daily paint works there is an art byte about painting oils like watercolors by Richard Robinson. This is my take on using his photo reference of painting acrylics like oils like watercolors. Didn't work, at least on paper. Soaked up the paint too quickly. But on the plus side it was super freeing trying it out. and I think i like the results. I also wanted to loosen up for working on my large painting i have been struggling with for... weeks. the painting is a surprise so i can't say the subject but i have painted it.... 12 times or so. It is evil.

Oh on a side note. Messi is sitting on my lap, as he does every time i post on here, 105 posts and i don't think he has missed a single chance to sit on my lap, and every time i pause to think he demands a kiss on the top of his head.

Day Ninety-seven

"Snail Mission" 4x5" Acrylic on paper $25

Yes, i know i am slacking a little in my painting a day, however, i do have reason. I have been having some personal issues lately and am feeling quite down and i don't like to paint when i'm upset. Mostly because I like to dance and sing and be in a good mood when i paint. Also, when i'm upset every subject for a painting sounds stupid and won't work. I have been trying to force myself to paint still because it is soothing to paint for me. Its just hard to start. It's still too soon to tell how i feel about this snail. I like snails though, and will probably paint one again. I imagine he has prior engagements to attend to so he could not be bothered to pose.

Day Ninety-six

"The Grand Carousel" 5x7 acrylic on paper, $75

Oh this was such fun to paint! I realize that i say that on almost all of my paintings, but painting is fun for me. Especially when i am happy with the results, and since i don't post all of the ones i am unhappy with because i am embarrassed by my failure paintings, no one should have to look at them. I think carousels have a certain magic to them in this painting i imagine standing in line and waiting to jump on. And now i want to ride one again.

Day Ninety-five

"Snack Time" 4x6 Acrylic on paper $30

Quick little Study, fun painting, LOVE these cookies! Still working on being painterly and looser. Still no self portraits this week as my challenge stood... so far not that great of success on that half. But honestly i see enough of myself.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Day Ninety-four

"The Big Circus" 5x7" acrylic on paper $75 (Sold)

i think i enjoy 5x7's better than 4x6's. SO more 5x7's to come! This was really fun, i loved going to the circus when i was little and i think this captures my feelings pretty well.

Day Ninety-three

"Rain" 7x5" Acrylic on paper

I was pondering waiting to post this on a day where I didn't paint, but couldn't. I'm stoked about this painting, really liked painting it, really like it done. Hope you enjoy! and while it's controlled i don't feel its as stiff as some of my others, and is painterly as well. Yay. So far this week's challenge is going well... although neither painting from today is a self portrait.

Currently up for auction http://www.dailypaintworks.com/buy/auction/90547 starting bid set at $50.

Day Ninety-two

"Crowd" 5x7" Acrylic on paper $40

Attempt one on being more painterly. Parts of it I like, parts i don't.

Weeks Personal challenge

I am very controlled when i paint. I paint lines on when i breath out and i nit-pick every line i make. Then i look at paintings that are painted painterly (loosely, freely, organically) and am so jealous. And i can not do it. I try and in the end i have a controlled painting. So this week i am going to paint on larger 5x7 and 6x6 inch paintings and work on loosening up, having high contrast, and more dramatic lighting. I am not working as much this week at my job so i am going to try to do more than one painting a day, loosely. I have been thinking about doing loose self portraits as well so i have one subject and can paint it over an over at different angles, just see how it goes. I would love feed back as well.

Day Ninety

"Some where on the coast" 4x6" Acrylic on paper $40

Aw, look where my research took me. 3 colors Cad Red medium hue, Cad yellow Medium, Winsor blue and white. One hour. Still not loose but getting there... maybe.

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Sigh

Some days i just can't paint, I have no idea of a subject and all subjects sound stupid and i don't want to paint them. Last night i was trying to force myself to paint i will paint messi, i will sketch messi eating, messi sleeping... Which i did sketch and they were AWFUL! Some days your mind gets in the way, everything just sounds like a bad idea and i beat myself up over it.

Tonight i will paint though have no fear. I took today and yesterday looking at videos of art and listening to art radio (which i did not know about before today!) and looking at others art. Research days i say.

Day Eighty-Nine

"Messi 3" 4x6" Acrylic on paper, $40

Just a really quick sketch of my favorite boy, Messi chewing on a bone. He's such a little wiggle worm when being painted! and he is not this fat.

Day Eighty-eight

"Let there be light" 4x6" acrylic $40

Just a quick little study tonight, amazing how much i am learning to see from a painting a day. I love doing little paintings and if i go to bed with out painting i feel like i have failed or forgot something. I am very tired though so i am off to bed. Night!

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Day Eighty-seven

"eyes" 4x6" Acrylic on paper $40

I just wanted to paint something fun and loose. I really enjoyed painting this.

Day Eighty-Four

"Napoleon" 4x6" Acrylic on paper (Private commission)

This is my friends cat Napoleon, when he was just a wee little kitten some person threw him out of his car while going down the highway. A man saw this and thought it was just trash until he saw him moving in a puddle in the road, that man brought him to the shelter when my friend and i happened to be working. This caused extreme damage to his ear, which then had to be removed completely. He also had a broken tail that mended itself. He was half starved and cold and very scared. But with a bowl of food he started to purr and our hearts were lost. He just celebrated his first birthday.

day eighty-three

"My best friend" 4x6" acrylic on paper

This is messi, not 100% happy with this, for a while i had his head just floating and that looked.... really odd. Love him more than i can say. I have been having a hard time with things lately, he sticks to my side the whole time i am home.. which honestly is not that different than normal, but i really appreciate it.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Day Eighty-two

"Empty and Waiting" 4x6" acrylic on paper (Not for sale as of now)

Wow, i have had a tough week. This is my husbands spot.

Saturday, November 3, 2012

few days off

i am thinking of taking a few days off to work on a large painting. I am thinking about posting progress on it, but i also kind of want to wait until it is finished to show anyone. Time will see. I will try to do a small daily painting as well but depending on my work schedule i may not be able to do both every day.

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Day Eighty-one

"Self Portrait 2" 4x6" Acrylic on paper (Not for sale)

Well, not in the greatest mood tonight. However, i do feel pretty good about how this turned out. It does rather look like me. The camera glare kind of messed up the highlights in my hand, but i don't care at the moment.

day eighty

"Studio" 4x6" acrylic on paper $40 + shipping

Oh i am happy with this one! i was short on time tonight so i had to paint faster and i love the end results of this one. Sometimes i can paint fast and sometimes i am slow. And yes my studio is this cramped, dark, and unorganized. This is actually the cleaner corner! It is my little art hole.

Day Seventy-eight 2

"Laundry on the line" 4x6"acrylic on paper (sold)

Hmmm... this was fun!

Squeel!

Oh my gosh, so normally i have to think of a bunch of ideas of what to paint and list them so i can not claim i have no ideas, well that still leaves me not wanting to paint any of those ideas, and i search the house frustrated for something to paint.

I have been oogling www.dailypaintworks.com for a little while and will soon join whenever i can afford the $13 a month fee. (yes, times they are difficult) and came across the weekly challenge... that has a whole long list of amazing fun challenges of topics to paint! woot, a list of inspiration and images of others ideas! what more can you ask for?!  and then when i can join people can look and buy my art through the website.

Many paintings are forsale, just trying to figure out the best way of going about it. If you are interested shoot me an email on what painting is is and we can work things out!

kendalle.weinberg@gmail.com (i don't check 1000 times a day and please put painting or art or something in the title line.)

Also, i would really appreciate a share on facebook/other websites to further get out there.

and please if you have any recommendations or comments or questions feel free to comment, add me on facebook, send me an email... I get ridiculously excited when someone comments!

Also, i have set up an artist page on facebook so if you want to check it.. although it is pretty much the same art that is on my blog.... rambling when i should be painting... see ya later!

Day seventy-eight

"Rainbow Crossing" 4x6" acrylic on paper $40 + shipping to buy

Well, its finished, not sure how i feel about the results. Rainbows in paintings never seem to work just right i find. Not feeling 100% successful on this one.

Day Seventy-seven

To be Continued....

Alas, it is past my bed time. So The rest of this painting will have to wait until tomorrow. I hope to finish this up as well as do another painting... I hope i do not ruin where i am going with this, as i am liking where it is now, and what i am going to attempt i have rarely found others in success and i have never attempted... muahaha suspense is good.

day seventy-six

"clouds at sunset on the beach" 4x6" acrylic on paper $40 + shipping

well I attempted a sky painting, I need to practice clouds as i painted these... i don't know 5 or so times. Not happy with them fully. I made them too uniform in shape. Next time i will know to remember they are not uniform and make sure i do not repeat the same mistake. Yet another bonus to a painting a day.

Day Seventy-three

"Old Men won't stand still" 4x6" acrylic on paper $40 + shipping

This old guy was captured in the background of another person. His face was too grand to not paint. He looks rather angry and in this painting sickly. Fun little painting to paint. Not sure i love the results but for a painting a day i get to paint whatever i want.
